The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that it has launched a new website that focuses on the various land claims it is currently working on.

The website, ‘Kahnawà:ke Claims’ (www.kahnawakeclaims.com) was launched as a conduit for reporting on the status of any and all of Kahnawà:ke’s claims and grievances. With the start of community consultations for the Seigneury of Sault St. Louis land grievance, the website is expected to be an important component to help educate community members on this major issue. More content on other claims issues will be forthcoming when there are developments on these files.

The site includes historical notes, links and contact information on both claims submitted to Canada’s Specific Claims Process, and the Seigneury of Sault St. Louis grievance. Reports on the status of all claims will be reported on the site as developments occur.

“These are potentially historic times,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. “The launch of this site gives Kahnawa’kehró:non a great resource for gaining better understanding of the complex claims issues we are working on – Seigneury included.”

“Hopefully, the website will inspire community members to ask questions or give suggestions on the various claims,” he concluded.
